Happy May!

Good morning!

It is planting week โ€“ and yes, it is a tiny cool โ€“ but plants theoretically hardened off and ready ๐Ÿ˜Š  Remember to check with me if you are interested in tomato plants, pepper, various squash, cucumbers etc!  I will know by next Sunday what I have left โ€“ and I always have plants left. The picture shows my plants on my basement steps โ€“ ready โ€“ (and yes, I will power clean the steps after I am done – ).

I baked for the first time in YEARSโ€ฆ.a chocolate chip cookie cake, with choclate butter frosting decorating the edges with sprinkles โ€“ we tried it and loved it- very sweet and rich โ€“ perfect for any young person in particular celebrating โ€“ so if you are interested, will post pictures tomorrow (we cut into it too fast and forgot to take pictures) of the one I am baking this week โ€“ speaking of which, I am baking cheesecakes, upside down strawberry cake and a very yummy chocolate cake that I used to bake for my Dadโ€™s Birthday and he always wanted it more frequently, so it became known as โ€œseldomโ€ cake โ€“ Iโ€™ll take some pics of that as well in case you are interested! Now โ€“ remember, I am not one of those fancy decorators โ€“ I can do simple decorations with a little writing โ€“ so donโ€™t challenge me too much! ๐Ÿ˜Š Because of all the cake baking, be sure to get your orders in โ€“ scones, muffins and bread will most likely be baked on Wednesday and Thursday will be filled with cake baking!

Motherโ€™s Day is filling, and I have a few cakes for that already ordered.  However, everything I bake is available โ€“ from scones to muffins, to all my focaccia breads and my cakes which seem to be expanding!  This week, please get your orders in by Tuesday at 4:00!  Motherโ€™s Day orders must be in by Monday, May 8, so I have time to plan out baking (if I must go to a 3rd day of baking, I will) and prepping and shopping โ€“

The week of May 15, I will be only baking on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 16 and 17 with pick up on 17th

Although it will be cool and rainy this week, it is the start of a special beautiful time here in the DC area โ€“ filled with lots of beauty โ€“ get out and enjoy!  Allergies should be better with all this rain โ€“ but watch out for those nasty gnats โ€“ I got bitten by one in the garden on Saturday and had a welt under my eye for 2 days (still kind of there!).  I look forward to seeing many of you soon!  Enjoy!

Yummily,
Maddie
